Introducing Our New Committee and Team Appointments

As we step into this exciting new chapter, we are proud to introduce the dedicated leadership team and staff guiding LSS forward. This team is fully committed to transparency, excellence, and creating the best possible environment for our swimmers.

Our Executive Committee

• Dr Kabeer Umakumar – Club Chair
  We are incredibly proud to welcome Dr Kabeer Umakumar as our Chair. An eminent heart surgeon, Kabeer brings immense leadership experience and a deep commitment to the sport. Having previously served on a committee at a different club, he has chosen to throw his support behind a new club, free of politics and solely focussed on providing the best training environment for it’s swimmers. Since then, Kabeer has worked closely with our vastly experienced coaching team, providing fantastic support and guidance to help get LSS successfully launched with the right values.

• Archana Natarajan (Archy) – Club Secretary
  We are delighted to announce that Archana Natarajan (Archy) has kindly taken on the role of Club Secretary. With her extensive business experience, Archy is already a huge asset to LSS, ensuring our administration, communication, and operations run smoothly and professionally.

Club Support and Welfare

• Yones Matsinde – Club Welfare Officer
  We are pleased to introduce Yones Matsinde as our Club Welfare Officer. Yones holds all of the required qualifications for this vital position, including an enhanced DBS, safeguarding children in sport and time to listen certificates, ensuring that a safe, supportive, and positive environment is maintained for every swimmer at LSS.

• Team Managers – Magda Czyzewska & Silviu Pletea
  A big welcome to our fully qualified Team Managers, Magda and Silviu. They will be working poolside to support our coaching team and swimmers at all upcoming competitions. They hold enhanced DBS, safeguarding children in sport and Swim England team manager certificates.

Academy Staff Appointment

• Henry Alimani – Academy Teacher
  We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Henry Alimani as our Academy Teacher. Henry is a former competitive swimmer, a fully qualified Level 2 teacher and a qualified lifeguard. His background and teaching credentials make him the perfect person to guide our Academy swimmers as they develop their skills.

• Abinav Dhall – Academy Coach
  We are also thrilled to announce the appointment of Abinav Dhall as an Academy Coach. As one of our competitive swimmers and a fully qualified Level 1 coach, Abinav has a proven track record of helping young athletes transition from teaching to a training environment. His background, excellent technical knowledge, and calm demeanour make him the perfect person to guide our Academy swimmers as they develop their skills.

• Apia Matsinde – Academy Helper
  We are also thrilled to announce the appointment of Apia Matsinde as an Academy Helper. As one of our competitive swimmers, Apia has stepped up to offer her support, and we are certain she will be incredibly popular with our younger athletes. She perfectly fits the profile of a senior swimmer wishing to develop coaching and teaching skills, and she will have our full backing to achieve her qualifications. Her infectious smile is sure to be a reassuring presence for our youngest members.

Join the Team: Committee Volunteers Needed

To ensure LSS thrives, we are looking for passionate volunteers from our community to join our committee. The core focus areas for our committee moving forward will be:

• Fundraising

• Sponsorship

• Grant Applications

• Social Event Organisation

If you would like to help us grow in these areas, please consider volunteering for one of the following positions:

• Executive Officer: Club Treasurer
  We need one more volunteer for the Executive Committee to step into the role of Treasurer. You will share fiscal responsibility alongside the Chair and Secretary to manage the club's finances.
  A background in finance or business is advantageous, but not necessary. We just need someone organised and reliable.

• General Committee Members
  We need general committee members who can volunteer just a couple of hours a month. Your primary commitment will be attending our monthly meetings to help plan our events and future growth.
